I only recently stumbled over Parkinsons Laws, even though I think in the IT business we are constantly confronted with them:


Parkinson's Law:

Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion.

Who has not seen self fulfilling estimations?


Parkinson's Law of Triviality:

Organisations give disproportionate weight to trivial issues.

(the time spent on any item of the agenda will be in inverse proportion to the sum involved.)
